THE RULES
THAT GOVERN US

Each on of us a member of the Lions Club and the International Association of Lions Club is governed by various rules and regulations in the form of several legal documents representing the different levels of Lionistic Administration. It is imperative that every lion should possess basic knowledge of these rules and regulations.


CONSTITUTION & BYE-LAWS OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LIONS CLUBS.
Adopted at the first convention of the Association in 1917 at Dallas, the International Constitution and Bye-Laws which is superior to all the other rules within the organisation, has come down the years after going through many revisions and change from time to time, kindly refer to recently adopted constitution in International Convention held at Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S.A. in 2001.


POLICIES OF THE INTERNATIONAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Next in importance is the policies adopted by the International Board from time to time. The decisions taken by the Board in strict conformity with the International Constitution and Bye-laws are set forth in the Board of Policy Manual. District Governors are kept posted of all decision of the International Board affecting District and Clubs.


CONSTITUTION & BYE-LAWS OF THE MULTIPLE DISTRICT

Every Multiple District has a set of constitution and Bye-laws. If a Multiple District does not have its own Constitution and Bye-laws, it shall follow the Standard Multiple District Constitution and Bye-laws approved by the International Board.
Our Multiple District has its own Constitution and Bye-laws, adopted by its first Convention and amended from time to time. The Multiple District Constitution and Bye-laws shall not contravene any provision of the International Constitution & Bye- laws and Policies of the International Board of Directors.


DISTRICT CONSTITUTION & BYE-LAWS
District can adopt its own set of Constitution and Bye-laws, in confirmity with the International Board Policy, otherwise it will follow the standard District Constitution and Bye-laws adopted by the International Board. In the absence of such a constitution, District will be governed by its Multiple constitution. Our District does not have any district constitution, so we follow Multiple 322 constitution.


LIONS CLUB CONSTITUTION & BYE-LAWS
Until a Lions Club enacts its own Constitution and Bye-laws, it will expected to follow the provisions of the standard from Lions Clubs Constitution and Bye-laws set forth by the International Board of Directors. Whenever a Lions Club drafts and adopts its own constitution and Bye-laws, utmost care should be taken to ensure that none of the provisions of the International Constitution and Bye-laws or the policies of the International Board of Directors are violated.


ROBERTS RULES OF PROCEDURE
Except as otherwise provided in any of the above sets of rules, the provisions in the “Robert’s Rules of Order, newly Revised” shall govern the meetings and functions of Lions Clubs, District and Multiple District.
